i have been spending some time with myself lately. Not so much like me but i am glad it happened. Many thoughts have been swimming in my unusual unstressed mind.
One of these thoughts was 'being happy'. I am not sure why this came up. but i guess that the stage we are currently embarking on requires us to stop and think. Anyways, i have been trying to figure out what makes me happy, delighted refreshed... is it something, someone, a time, a place, a drink, a moment, a group, an outing, a movie. and then i realized, most of us do realize what makes us unhappy. we actually exert a lot of effort to know what makes us unhappy, we stress on it and we highlight it and we are 100% certain of what makes us unhappy, sad, irritated, annoyed and even mad about. and i am wondering, have anyone ever realized how we pick those things that irritate us and make a big deal out of While we do not do the same with what makes us happy. One thought led to another, i realized that we try to impose on each other what makes us happy thinking it will make others happy. what i mean is, we do not have the culture of understanding that what makes me happy doesnt necessarily make someone else happy, even if you are too close. same goes that if you try to be happy using someone else's way you will just be doomed to failure.
i will be honest, but recently i have been put into a series of situations from close friends and family who because they are close enough try to make me happy their way...which unkowingly makes one feel awkward at a certain point thinking 'i am not feeling happy, is something wrong with me?' in fact there is nothing wrong, the point is i am happy my way. Some are happy having a nice hot cup of coffee on a rainy day and a favourite song just popps out of the car radio...
someone else is happy having a glass of wine with nuts and watching a movie with family. another in a dancing night. another to surprisingly finding the favorite movie playing on a cold night. a good meal for another, a blind date for someone else, a bunch of flowers from a beloved one, a nice comment from your boss, money raise...the list keeps on writing.
and if you were patient enough to reach this line here, what i mean is that let us not restrict happiness to our own personal code... everyone has their own code of happiness. it is already hard enough to find it so let's not confuse each other but let's help one another find what makes us really happy and do it to ourselves and our loved ones.
A wise man once told me...don't spend money on personal posessions, spend it on special moments.
the challenge is...find your precious moments...
