Circus Circus....The Lost Talent! written on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at 3:34pm

Have anyone been to the Egyptian circus...lately? Live?
As we all tend to make very generalized judgments on places that we have never seen and people we have never met,i thought  it is about time to pay a small visit to such places we are only reluctant to go to just for the thought that they are not up to the standard...
If you havent been to the circus, i suppose your knowledge of it is either from outside egypt if you are lucky enough or from TV shows that used to be on kid programming on CH2 20 years back. those programs who purchased expired content that go back to late 60's, 70's and 80's....
What you might know, is that currently, the circus content have barely changed since those timings. With minimal additives from the few European members who actually joined. And by European, do not expect to see some new tricks from Paris, Amsterdam nor even Berlin...unsurprisingly Russion they are..
A quick review for the visit..
Venue- Heliopolis- Shams Club. In fact, very nice venue, plenty of space to park. A big tent of a capacity to carry not less than 350 seats of which only 100 of them were occupied.
Schedule- As far as i know it's a daily show..
Duration- 9:30- 12:00 am..pretty long content...
Ticket- Ticket Range from 30L.E. to 200 L.E.(which is not cheap)
Content- ALl those tricks you have seen on TV-
a. The Jokers/ Clowns- the mainly Unegyptian element of the program- in fact fun and dynamic and the most renewed...the kids absolutely loved them and interacted with them with extreme joy and passion
b. Egyptian content-
Most of the program is actually performed by Egyptian performers...and let me tell you they have got all the talent and the skill required. it's not me to judge, but i guess they still got it... I am sure there is plenty to learn, more choreography, customized music and better costumes, more new blood and definately more capital (i.e CASH) is required.
Most of them perform more than one trick per night  and some of them are from the same family. they have got a team spirit that is incomparable and passion beyond standars. Cooperation between performers, assistants and even organizers outside the stage area was worth notiicing...
So generally and after 3 hours' performance, you come to say, this is a tough job...it should at least be either fun or pay and i guess these people dont get any of these...
The fun is lost by the forgetness and redundancy and the pay stands weak in front of the neediness of cash...
is there one chance that we can save anything before it falls apart...i just pity those who still do the job, they still want to be there and they have the talent in search of an opportunity...

P.S. will upload some pictures may be you'd want to pay a visit one day.
Cheers!
